Happy Halloween everyone!!!! I’m Cheryl, aka TidyMom! When I am not baking, crafting or running around with my camera you can find me over in my little corner of the universe at TidyMom.net

I was beyond thrilled when the Eighteen25 girls asked me to join their Spooktacular series again this year! You might notice, I have a thing for food. Sugary fun food. Last year I shared some spooky spider pancakes, and this year I thought we could dress up a few s’mores!

Every Halloween, for one night, we dress up in costumes to disguise ourselves. I figured why not disguise a favorite treat as well!

I originally fell in love with this idea when Amy made them for 4th of July, I thought they’d make a spooktacular treat for Halloween!

What you’re going to need

  • Marshmallows (the flat Jet Puffed Mallows are great for this)
  • Chocolate Bars
  • Graham Crackers
  • Dipping Chocolate
  • popsicle sticks
  • sprinkles

Simply stack 1/2 of a graham cracker with a chocolate bar and marshmallow and top with remaining graham cracker.

Place in the microwave for about 10 seconds (I put 3 on a plate in the microwave) – just long enough to slightly soften chocolate and marshmallow.

Quickly, while still warm, insert popsicle stick into marshmallow.

Place s’mores on wax paper lined sheet and put in freezer for about 30 minutes. This will make every thing nice and firm for dipping.

Melt your dipping chocolate (you can even use chocolate chips), I usually add a little shortening to the chocolate to thin it down a bit. Dip each of your s’mores and shower with sprinkles while still wet.

Place them to dry on waxed paper.

Enjoy!

These were a big hit at our house, and would be adorable individually wrapped in a clear bag, tied with a Halloween ribbon, for a Halloween party.

Nothing washes down a Halloween s’more better than Goblin’s Blood. Simply add a drop of green food coloring to a glass of milk and watch their eyes as you serve it to them!

Yum! That would be something really cute to give out to kids for Halloween at my house, since we don't get a lot….I wouldn't have to make a zillion!

Would using FLUFF still work with this for all the vegetarians out there?

Spooky Pancakes
I have been “dying” to make these pancakes for almost a year now, ever since I first saw the idea at notmartha.org.
Just think of the fun the whole family will have making their own spooky pancakes!

I used my
 Pumpkin Pancake recipe
that we love and added a little orange food coloring to make them extra “festive”.

Pumpkin Pancakes

  • 2 eggs
  • 1-1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 4 TBSP melted butter
  • 5 TBSP canned pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • few drops of orange gel food coloring

Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Coat pan with no stick spray. Combine eggs, buttermilk, butter, pumpkin, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer to blend ingredients. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and blend with mixer until smooth. Add just a few drops of gel food coloring until you get a nice orange (it doesn’t take much). Pour or scoop the batter onto hot skillet, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. When the batter stops bubbling and edges begin to harden, flip the pancakes. They should be golden brown. This will take from 1 to 2 minutes. Flip the pancakes and cook the other side for the same amount of time, until golden brown. Serve warm with syrup. Makes approximately 16 pancakes.

*TIPS: 1. I used the powdered buttermilk, this way I always have some on hand – if you use the powdered – replace buttermilk with 1-1/4 cup water in the wet ingredients, and add 5 TBSP of buttermilk mix to the dry ingredients 2. My skillet makes 4 pancakes at a time, I heat my oven to about 180° and place cooked pancakes on a plate and place in oven while I cook the next batch, remove plate to add another batch to plate and place back in warm oven until all pancakes are cooked. 3. These freeze well too!

To turn your pumpkin pancakes into SPOOKY pancakes……you’ll want to make Black Cinnamon Syrup. The cinnamon is a nice compliment to pumpkin pancakes……..*BUT, I have a suggestion…….if you make the pumpkin pancakes and serve with this syrup, you could cut down or even leave out the cinnamon in the pancakes.
Black Cinnamon Syrup (recipe from Not Martha)
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup water
  • black food coloring gel
In a saucepan combine sugars, flour and cinnamon. Add vanilla and water. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously. As it heats squirt in a little of the black food coloring and mix in, add more until it’s as dark as can be (it doesn’t take much). Allow to boil for a few moments until the mixture has noticeably thickened. Remove from heat and allow to cool enough to put into a squirt bottle (of the ketchup style). You can make it the night before and warm it by dipping the squeeze bottle in a bowl of warm water. Let each person decorate their own pancake!
There’s nothing SCARY about making these pancakes!

I’m sure your family will be thrilled with this SPOOKY treat on Halloween morning! Thanks for having me today ladies!!!……..I love Halloween and can’t wait to see all of the great ideas! September is going to be so fun at eighteen25!

LOVE THIS! A couple years ago I attempted some spider-web pancakes that pretty much looked like the spider lost his lunch in my skillet. I'm hoping that my attempt at these will be more successful! 🙂

Love the Jack-O-Lanterns, and the web. My son is deathly afraid of actual spiders….so that might not be an option at our house…

    So cutE!!
