Pumpkin Party

Oct192010 posted by Jodie and Jen 13 Comments

Remember how I told you awhile ago about how I LOVE traditions.
Well one of my favorites is right around the corner.
our annual
PUMPKIN PARTY!!
This is a tried and true fun family night.
This one’s been around for like 7 or 8 years!! So it’s a keeper!

I hope you will have your own Pumpkin Party so I’ve put together some tips for you:

1. Have everyone bring their own pumpkin and a pumpkin cutting kit.
2. Keep the leftovers of those cutting kits in a Ziploc baggie for next year.
3. Use dollar store plastic tablecloths for a super quick clean up of the mountains of pumpkin guts!
4. Have either pumpkin carving stencils or sharpies so people can draw their designs on their pumpkins.
5. Be sure to stock up on candles and matches.
6. Take lots of pictures. Most importantly take a picture of all the finished pumpkins and one with everyone with their masterpieces!

We’ll chat about the menu tomorrow.

We have a pumpkin party every year, too! We encourage people to clean out their pumpkins at home and do the fun stuff at our house. I made a sign a few years ago that says "Welcome Great Pumpkin" and when it gets dark, we watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown outside on our projector (and then another family-friendly fall-themed movie – this year probably The Fantastic Mr. Fox). I make pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies, and pumpkin pie, and we have lots of different soups and beer. It is my favorite!

That sounds like fun!! Do you have a designated adult that does the carving, or do the kits have kid-friendly tools? (I'm new to the whole carving kit thing) 😉 Looks like you all had a blast!

This is certainly something those little ones will remember for ever. Traditions are always so important. Photos are too cute.

Fun Idea. We usually just do ours with our small family, but might think about making it a tradition. I LOVE the NY pumpkin! Great Idea 🙂

Love it! My BFF and me host a pumpkin carving party every year, ours includes friends and neighbors and family. SO much fun-your menu looks yum, we do ghost (white) chili and homemade spagehtti sauce. Love your pumpkin pics, we take them too!

    Hey there. Fun party!

I just moved into our house and am on the hunt for a great green to put on the walls in my kitchen and family room. Your green dining room walls caught my eye. Do you mind sharing the brand and name of your paint?? Thanks!
