{Around the House}

Oct282010 posted by Jodie and Jen 15 Comments

since there are only a few more days before i rip all these decorations down. (and happily look forward to Thanksgiving) i figured i’d show you a little of what halloween looks like around here this year.
here is where my EEK frames ended up.
thought these glittered spiders looked fun crawling through my topiaries.
each year i get so excited to add another picture to my frame collection.
i’m up to 5 straight years of Halloweens!!
i love being able to look back at past costumes and how the kids have changed from one year to the next.
added some cute little bats to my clock wall.
i love having a plate rack and changing out the plates for each holiday!

i had to have a tree branch like everyone else this year! i used little clothes pins and attached wallet sized halloween photos to mine.  next year i want LARGE branches. so i can fit lots of fun pictures!!

 well that’s pretty much it.
don’t forget to take some fun pictures of your decorations.
i think it’s fun to be able to look back on those types of things. what i wouldn’t give to be able to see how my grandmas used to decorate for halloween. hmmm. i’ll have to ask them if they even did??

{around the house} the clock wall

Jul292010 posted by Jodie and Jen 48 Comments

my family and friends will tell you…
i’m the best at being indecisive.
and i’m the perfect procrastinator.
i am jennifer.
those are two talents i wish i wouldn’t have been blessed with.
where does all that useless info fit into this post you ask?
well i’ve had this idea for a clock collection in my head for a couple of years now. so i finally bought all the clocks and then let most of them sit under a bed for the last 4 months. just waiting for someone to come hold my hand and help me decide how to do it.
finally my sisters came to my rescue.
so we…
put my niece to work cutting out kraft paper in the shapes of my clocks.
that way, we could move things around and get them exactly where we wanted them without putting a hundred holes in the wall.
when everything looked right. we measured for the nail holes and hammered the nails in.
then we took off the paper and hung my clock collection.
then i fell in love… and wondered why the heck i waited so long to get them up there.
oh and just in case you are wondering…
large black clock came from target. yellow one came from a store we have here in vegas and utah called rodworks. (a couple years ago though) and the 3 smaller clocks were bought at hobby lobby for 50% off.
…
so is it weird to have a clock collection? my hubby doesn’t get it?
do you have any collections?

No real collections here, but I am a procrastinator too! I have lists, sketches, little odds & ends of things that I am constantly putting together for a "Wouldn't this look cool!". Of course I'm always waiting for more time, more $$$, etc. before they are completed! Bravo to you for completing it and thanks for making me feel a tad bit better about a weakness I have.

I LOVE it! But in all fairness I've been plotting to do something really similar but I need more clocks and apparently a Hobby Lobby. Ultimately I plan to set the hands at the times of my children's births and the time at which we got married, just for fun. It looks really fantastic and I feel even more confident in my choice to do a clock wall. Well done!

My mom has a clock collection (HUGE!), and I think we've all inherited her love of clocks. She has 5 grandfather clocks, a couple of cuckoo clocks, and so many wall and mantel clocks that it makes one's head spin. I have a big grandfather clock, a cuckoo clock, a big one on my bedroom wall, one above the mantel, one in the dining room, two in the office, and one in each child's bedroom!

It's not odd at all — it's a collection that is totally cool. You could even set them for different time zones, if you wished — so you would always know what time it is in Playa Del Carmen! Ok — between you and me — we just talked me into doing this too! Definite bookmark, and a new follower for you. Please stop by my place and if you are inspired, follow me in return.
