How does Springtime in Paris sound? It sounds pretty amazing if you ask us! For this month’s Michaels Makers project we were asked to make something Parisian-inspired to help spread the word about the awesome contest Michaels has going on. We’ve never been lucky enough to visit Paris, but we’ve always thought of it as a beautiful and romantic place.
I’d like to picture myself sitting at a little cafe overlooking the Eiffel Tower with these pretty little painted mason jars sitting on the tables. They’d be filled with the most perfect mix of flowers.
Now I can add them to my home and every time I see them dream about an amazing trip that I’d love to make some day.
SUPPLIES:
– Floral summer stem bundle
– Quilted Jelly Jar
– Paint – FolkArt has a Matte Acrylic Paint that gave kind of a chalk paint look that we liked. We used the colors, Bright Baby Pink, Soft Apple and Vintage White
– Paint Brush
– Nail file or sand paper (I prefer a nail file)
Give your jars a couple thin coats of paint. Let them dry a good hour in between each coat. Then let them dry a couple hours before you use the nail file and lightly sand of the paint from the raised parts of the jar. Then simply set the floral bundle in the jar. (We did have to trim the ends of some of the stems – some bundles were longer than others)
You can enter to win a trip of a lifetime to Paris! How? Create your own Parisian-inspired art, floral, baking or paper crafting project and upload a photo to https://paris.michaels.com/ through March 31, 2015. You can also share your project on social media using the hashtags #SpringtimeInParis #Contest
What can you win? A four-night trip for two to Paris, 1,000 euros, a VIP tour of the Louvre, private classes including sketching, floral arranging, baking and more!
If you need a little Paris inspiration to get you started, take a look at some of the Springtime in Paris projects on Michaels.com.
Are you ready to get started? We can’t wait to see what you come up with and if you win, can we squeeze inside your luggage? Good luck!

Love this! I can't believe those flowers are fake– the first picture especially made them look real (and I'm really picky when it comes to fake flowers!) I also love how the matte paint looks like chalkboard paint.

Thanks so much Michelle! The flowers are actually really pretty… I'm not a huge fan when it comes to fake flowers, but these are great! 🙂
