Hello hello! I’m Chris from Just a Girl, and I’m beyond excited to be here today. I’ve been a part of this series for a few years now, and whenever I receive the e-mail from Jamie, Jodie, and Jennifer I know the holiday season is about to begin! I get so excited not only to make a project for Spooktacular September, but I always know it’s going to be a month of Halloween inspiration for me! How fun, eh?
My three favorite things about decorating for Halloween? Glitter, black and white, and simplicity. Luckily, this projects fits the bill for all three, and it cost me less than $10.00! Yes, seriously.
I started out with these paper mache (I think?) cones at Michaels. I think the biggest one was only a couple of dollars–maybe less–so I picked them up without even knowing what I was going to do with them! I don’t think therapists would recommend that as healthy shopping. Just saying.
The process went so quickly that it didn’t really involve pictures. Paint the cones white, apply Mod Podge, and coat with glitter. I really prefer Martha Stewart glitter (40% off coupon) because it is super fine and sparkles better than others.
I used my Silhouette machine to cut out some jack-o-lantern eyes and circle/oval shapes, but this is definitely something you could cut free-hand. I tried it. It’s not something I can cut free-hand. I tried a couple different kinds of glue, and I found that a good ol’ Elmer’s glue stick worked best.
I garnished with some craft moss and glittery spiders and called it good! Nothing like an inexpensive, easy, and cute Halloween project to kick off the season, eh?
If you’d like to see some of the Spooktacular projects I’ve done in the past, perhaps you’d like these?
