[birthday week] kid’s birthday cards

Mar152012 posted by Jodie and Jen 28 Comments

one thing i’d rather not spend my money on for a kid’s birthday…. is the card.
they are so stinking expensive!!
so for under a buck we put together a couple cards that we think most kids would enjoy receiving.
hope you have an amazing birthday!

-download your 4×6 card from HERE (or 2 on a sheet HERE)
-print at home or at a photo center.
-we backed ours in a piece of white cardstock about a half inch longer and wider than the card. you could also fold a sheet of cardstock in half to make a traditional folded card and then attach the download to the front.
-we took our 25 cent maze that we found at Party City and backed it with a black scalloped circle and glued it to the card.
-sign your name and it’s all ready to go.

i hope your birthday rocks

-download your 4×6 card from HERE (or 2 on a sheet HERE).
-print at home or at a photo center.
-we backed ours in a piece of white cardstock about a half inch longer and wider than the card. you could also fold a sheet of cardstock in half to make a traditional folded card and then attach the download to the front.
-use glue dots to attach the pop rocks. we found this size pop rocks at Party City – 3 for $1. wrap some twine around and tie a bow.
-sign your name and it’s ready to go.

once you gather the supplies you can whip up a bunch of these in no time at all.
and for so super cheap! that works for me! 🙂

Those are super cute! I hate buying them for kids too so we don't do it. Instead I buy blank coloring paper (like on rolls like at Ikea) and my kids wrap their presents in that and then "draw" their cards on the outside and decorate it. Then all the wrapping gets ripped and thrown away. And I didn't have to buy wrapping paper either 🙂

Love this idea and want to copy it. When I print your printable it prints small like 2 to half a sheet of paper. What am I doing wrong??? It looks like it should print bigger like 2 to the whole sheet of paper.

These are great! I also hate spending money on cards. My daughter usually makes cards for her friends but sometimes she gets a bit tired of it so these are perfect. Thanks for the printables.

Okay, so I left one comment, but now I've done it and wanted to tell you what I did…I have two parties this weekend so behind the pop rocks, I just made a small envelope and slipped a $10 bill into it…easy peasy, no store for me! I also put the word "look!" on one of the white stripes so they don't accidentally throw the money away.

This card with the quilted look is awesome. I like the image and the coloring of it. I never try to sew on a card, maybe i will try someday. I appreciated for your work.
