It’s about that time…

Oct242011 posted by Jodie and Jen 17 Comments

time for one of my most favoritest (totally not a word, i know) nights of the year!!
our annual
PUMPKIN PARTY!!
in case you are new around here…
our pumpkin party consists of:
yummy soup in bread bowls
tasty treats
and lots and lots of pumpkin guts from lots and lots of pumpkin carving
a few Pumpkin Party tips for you:
1. Have everyone bring their own pumpkin and a pumpkin carving kit.
2. Keep the leftovers of those carving kits in a Ziploc baggie for next year.
3. Use dollar store plastic tablecloths for a super quick clean up of the mountains of pumpkin guts!
4. Have either pumpkin carving stencils or sharpies so people can draw their designs on their pumpkins.
5. Be sure to stock up on candles and matches.
6. Take lots of pictures. Most importantly take a picture of all the finished pumpkins and one with everyone with their masterpieces!

so do you have a pumpkin party planned for this year?
leave a link to your blog in the comments if you’ve had one this year or even last year…
we’d love to see!!

I love Halloween parties…the smell of doughnuts frying, the table laden with caramel apples, happy Jack-O'Lanterns, pumpkin cupcakes…well, you can see where I'm going with this! Have a Happy Halloween:)

how fun!! We are having our "pumpkin party" tonight – we do it for FHE the Monday before Halloween every year. I actually DON'T like carving pumpkins… but I do like eating roasted pumpkin seeds so it all evens out, haha.

We carved our pumpkins a week ago and now they look like shriveled old people pumpkins. Didn't think it through very well with the Vegas heat. Here's a link to our pumpkins.

Our carving time used to be a party too when I lived by my sisters but now it's just us. Sure miss them.

A bunch of my favorite little pumpkins (aka 2 year olds!) came over to our place and decorated some mini pumpkins…we had a blast! 🙂

We have one each year as well.
Last year I had just had a c-section but we still had a very small family party.

But here is the post from the year before. We always cook beef stew inside of a pumpkin…delish!

I'll start off by saying that my family never did the pumpkin craving thing growing up. Flash forward 30+ years… I wanted my 8 year old son to have the pumpkin craving experience, so I invite our families to come over for our 1st pumpkin craving party. To shorten a long story… everyone who attended had never craved a pumpkin (except my husband). My teenage nephews, who told me they were too old, LOVED it. Even my 70 year old Mom and Sister had a great time. This was 3 years ago and it's become an annual favorite.

Love all the great ideas! What settings on your camera did you use for the inside pictures? And for the one of the kids with the pumpkins outside? They are great!!!
