i’m excited to say that this countdown will be hanging in my home.
it was so fun to get all of our creative juices a flowin’ and see what we could come up with.
you’ll be happy to know it’s so simple to make +
you’ll be able to stuff each day with practically whatever you want!
you’ll need:
a shoe organizer with 24 pockets (i got mine at target)
the countdown downloads…
24 clothespins
spray paint (we used krylon’s blue ocean breeze)
white cardstock (to back your numbers in)
kraft cardstock* * * * * * * * * *1. hang your shoe organize
2. spray your clothespins (or leave them…whatever you choose)
3. punch out your numbers with the famous 3″ circle punch
4. we backed ours with a 4 1/4″ scallop
5. cut your strips 3.5″ x 7.5″ out of the kraft paper
6. adhere your number
(we centered it from the bottom of the clothespin to the bottom of the paper)
7. clothespin it to the front of the pocket
8. stand back and admire your work!

I LOVE this idea! I may be making two of them…one for my grandsons at home and one for my classroom. In the classroom I would probably put a story starter in each pocket for our daily journaling activity. :o)

Great idea…thanks for sharing! My mind is twirling with ideas to fill the pockets…mittens, ornaments, treats, small crafts…the possiblities are endless!

So cute! And they have shoe organizers like that at $ Tree too.

The pages are printed as I write this. Sadly I don't have the famous punches, so I'm thinking of just leaving my square. But I will be heading out as soon as my babies wake up from their nap to snatch up a shoe organizer! Thank you SO much for this wonderful idea. I'm in love!!!

GREAT idea!! I love that you can fit larger things in the pockets… not just candy (Silly bands, anyone?). And I can put two small gifts in each pocket (one for each of my girls) so I don't have to do two calenders. I think that your idea just trumped my idea! 🙂 THANK YOU for sharing! 🙂

i think it would be fun to put in a package of microwave popcorn on a day that falls on a weekend with a strip of paper that says watch a Christmas movie! (ELF of course)

I really love this idea like the other commenters said. It's big and can hold fun things and love the idea of popcorn for a movie day. Thanks so much. I almost want to make them all how can I choose when they are all so fun and festive. Thank you everybody.

I have never really done advents because they are generally SO small. I have 5 boys and it's impossible to even fit tiny treats in some of them. This is fantastic for what I need. Thanks for the fabulous idea here.

THis is perfect and simple. I tried one last year. It was a great idea. But I am not real creative or crafty so it didn't trun out. But this one is right up my alley!!!
I would like to share a link to this on my blog and of course lead people to you!

So, so, so, cute. I love the teal clothespins and the oh so chic tags. Those colors….with the natural…..OH MY! (and Jen….ELF will be on at least 40 times at my house before Christmas comes….you're welcome ANY TIME!! I know it's a long way to go for a movie. But at least you won't have to go through the 7 layers of the Candy Cane forest)
