Footprint Christmas Ornaments

Dec32016 posted by Jodie and Jen 8 Comments

We LOVE handmade ornaments. I mean come on, what’s cuter than a painted macaroni frame with your kids adorable face in it? haha. We always try to make a new ornament with our kids every year. It’s the perfect craft to do with them while they are on Christmas break. This year we whipped out the paints and started painting body parts. haha. Just hands and feet, but we ended up with the cutest Handprint and Footprint Christmas Ornaments!

Here are the supplies we used for the Footprint Reindeer Ornaments: [affiliate links are included in this post]

  • Tag Shaped Chipboard – we used Recollections brand that we found at Michaels – if you can’t find these chipboard tags you could always use a thick Cardstock or Construction Paper
  • Paintbrush and paint – Brown
  • Red Pom Pom
  • 2 Googly Eyes
  • Red Ribbon
  • Sharpie
  • Glue Gun and Glue

Paint the entire bottom of your child’s foot with paint. Then carefully press it down on the chipboard tag. Then set it aside and let it dry completely.

Once it’s all dry use your glue gun to attach the nose, googly eyes and a red bow. You can also make an ornament hanger with the ribbon.

Using the sharpie draw his/hers antlers and of course add your child’s name and the year.

Isn’t she just the cutest??

Posie is getting to be a pro at these handprint and footprint projects so we decided to go ahead and try a Snowman too!

Here are the supplies we used for the Snowman Handprint Ornament:

  • Chipboard Tags – We used the Recollections brand that we found at Michaels
  • Paintbrush and Paint – White, black and orange
  • Sharpie
  • Red Ribbon
  • 3 Small buttons
  • Black Cardstock
  • Bakers Twine
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Again, paint the bottom of your child’s foot with white paint. This time you’ll want to turn your tag upside down so the toes will end up being at the bottom. Firmly press their foot onto the tag and then set aside and let it dry.

While it’s drying you can cut out a simple top hat with your black paper.

Then using the end of a paintbrush or even just a toothpick add your eyes and carrot nose to your snowman. Make your ornament hanger with the ribbon and then glue on all your extras. Don’t forget to add their name and the year.

So stinking cute!! And the kids are always so proud of their “hard work”. Their handmade ornaments always seem to be the first ones they want to hang on the tree!! Love that. 🙂

We just used acrylic paint that you can grab at all craft stores and even Walmart or Target. 🙂
