Halloween Movie Night

Oct222013 posted by Jodie and Jen 30 Comments

In the weeks leading up to the holidays, we love to gather around the TV and watch our favorite movies. It’s such a fun family tradition that we each look forward to.Today we want to share some of our favorite Halloween movies that we like watching with the kids. We’ve paired each movie with a fun treat that the whole family can help make… maybe you’ll have your own Halloween Movie Night(s) this year!!

• • •[Click on the Treat Name to be taken to the recipes and instructions]

Serve up some chocolate covered pretzel Witch Fingers while watching one of our most favorite Halloween movies ever…. Hocus Pocus!!

• • •
We were so excited when Hotel Transylvania came out. How fun would it be to make up a batch of Nutter Butter Bats to enjoy while watching it!

• • •
ParaNorman would be great served with a side of Zombie Eyeballs!!
• • •
How about serving Pumpkin Pizzas on the night It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is on TV!

• • •

and while watching the classic Ghostbusters…  it’s a must to serve these oh-so-simple ghost pops!
• • •
A batch of Monster Munch would be perfect to snack on during a viewing of Monster House!

• • •

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a must. The kids would absolutely love these Jack Skellington Cookie Pops!

• • •

Of course, while watching E.T. you’ll need some Reese’s Pieces Puppy Chow… yum!

• • •

Black & White Rice Krispie Treats seem appropriate for the Black & White movie Frankenweenie!

• • •

and if you really want to freak your kids out… show them the scariest Disney movie ever made, The Watcher in the Woods. It’s Creepy. Weird. and may give you nightmares. haha.

The Watcher in the Woods (1980)

Which one is your favorite?? Leave it in the comments…
we’d love to see which movies are the most popular! 🙂

Great ideas! My fave Halloween movies are probably Hocus Pocus and It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. My kids also love the Halloweentown movies on Disney, as well as Twitches. So many fun Halloween movies for families to combat the gross slasher/killer/creepy movies!

We have not seen any of the Halloweentown movies or Twitches. We'll have to see if we can find them on Netflix. 🙂

If you're looking for a new Halloween favorite for your kids, you have to watch The Monster Squad. It's a cult classic from the 80's and it's awesome. Sort of like the Goonies, but with monsters. I'm 33 and still have to watch it every year at Halloween!

A few titles I am not familiar with. I like cult classics – Dracula and Frankenstein done in B/W or even as silent films. Of course every year we do have to enjoy the Great Pumpkin!

What a fun post idea!!! I love it!! We adore Charlie Brown and Nightmare Before Christmas. I haven't watched Hocus Pocus in years, but I love that idea! Will have to go back and watch it! I hope I don't seem like a spammer, but on IG I mentioned my caramel apples and you seemed interested, so here they are if you want to see them. Feel free to delete this comment if I seem tacky and spammy sharing it here. 😉 http://www.bombshellbling.com/jack-skellington-caramel-apples/

I love "Watcher in the Woods"! We also like to include Disney's Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. The cartoon is just enough scary for all my kids. 🙂

I love your list! My husband says "that's the best disney movie" and apparently there's an alternate ending that's even weirder

I know someone already mentioned the Halloweentown movies, but that's what my family is watching after dinner at the moment. We've already watched The Little Vampire and Hocus Pocus follows the Halloweentown movies to finish our Halloween tradition.

Ernest Scared Stupid is one of my go-to Halloween family favorites. Also, Roald Dahl's The Witches starring Angelica Houston. Very creepy!
