I think we’re starting a new tradition this year…
Autograph t-shirts for the last day of school.
Jen’s the one that came up with the idea of making our own t-shirts with the Silhouette heat transfer material. The design idea came from a t-shirt done on the Silhouette blog.
I used the long banner from this shape set. Made it wider to fit my text. Added a circle in the center and welded the two shapes together.
I added the text. Everything is in my favorite font, Bebas Neue, except “autographs” is in Lobster. To make the text follow the path of the circle, read the tutorial found HERE. (So glad to find that out)
Group the entire design together and Flip Horizontally. *Very important when using the heat transfer. Select the Heat Transfer cut setting, insert the material in with the shiny side down and cut.
Remove the negative space of the design. The hook tool helps a lot.
Place the design on your t-shirt, cover with a cloth and iron on.
Remove the plastic transfer sheet and your t-shirt is ready for some autographs!!
Do you and your kids have any fun last day of school traditions?

This is yet another reason I NEED to get a Silhouette machine! I would really love to do this for my niece!

Super Clever!

My last day of school tradition was always to run like hell.
This is a cute alternative.
Depending on the age (mine is in 1st grade) it be expecting the pen to leave the shirt from time to time.
I want one of these the next time I quit a job!!!

How fun! I remember doing that when I was a kid. Maybe I'll do this with my daughter's field day shirt! We also do this with her yearbook.

Our school does this as well but your shirt is way cuter than ours! We use Sharpies so the autographs don't wash out. 🙂 Lisa

Super fun idea! I'm making it tonight 🙂 Thanks!

We've done the shirt the last 2 years (not nearly as cute as yours though) and by last year everyone at school did it. They love it!! I had a lanyard with 2 sharpies hanging from it. (you can get the small sharpies with the metal on the top to clip it on).

Thank you for sharing this great idea and mini tutorial. I just finished mine. I"ll be making one for the teacher as well.

super cute project! I think all kids would love to sport this shirt on the last day of school!

This is so cute! My daughter's elementary school used to allow the children to sign their school-year tshirt, but lots of parents didn't want the $15 tshirts to be "ruined". This would be a great alternative, if you get the cheapo tshirts from wally world. Also, love how you can create your own one-of-a-kind design on the Silhouette!

Not to be a party pooper, but I'm a second grade teacher and this would be a logistical nightmare. We have an entire grade yearbook signing near the end of the year and I can't imagine 120 8 year olds wielding sharpies and signing clothing. This would be super cute for older kids (4th grade?).

Is there anyway that I can purchase the iron on design from you? I do not have a printer to make them but I LOVE the idea!
Carm says
Do you have this file for sale?
Jamie says
I think I figured out how to make it, so I can share it. (fingers crossed) I will add the download to the post above. 🙂

Hi Jamie, Is there any way I can purchase the iron on design printed with the 2014-2015 school year?
3Martigurls says
I was wondering the same thing? Is it possible to update it for 2014-2015 or if there's a way to purchase it??
Shannon says
Hi,
Love the design and would love to see if I could purchase from you to print on iron on? I would love it for 2015-2016 for this year.
So adorable!
Jodie and Jen says
Hi Shannon! We sadly don’t sell any products. Our friend Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts has a more detailed post and might possibly sell an iron on. Check it out here: http://www.sugarbeecrafts.com/2016/05/last-day-school-autograph-tee.html
