Hey there! It’s Natalie, from TheCreativeMom.com, where I share how-to’s for decorating, crafts, and recipes for creative moms like you!
‘Tis the season for baking, eating, and sharing! I love to bake homemade treats, and usually when I do, someone in my neighborhood gets a plates of goodies on their porch! {wishing you were my neighbor?} And when I’m delivering treats, I always want them to look amazing! So I want to share a little tip I learned years ago on how to make the perfect cinnamon roll from my sweet little mom!
This is also a perfect tip if your planning on having Cinnamon Rolls or Orange Rolls on Christmas morning. You want them to look amazing too, right?
This is the simplest little trick, and it will make all the difference in how your cinnamon rolls turn out.
You will have a much easier time cutting them, and they will be a lot better looking. Like, really really ridiculously good looking. (name that movie!)
When you make cinnamon rolls, you roll up the dough like so…. right? Right.
And then you grab a knife and start cutting… right? WRONG!!!
Unless you want to squish the crap out of your cinnamon rolls. Or if you want them to be weird shaped. But, my friends, we want neither of those.
And that’s where my mom’s simple little trick comes in handy.
Grab a length of regular sewing thread, and use it to cut your cinnamon rolls instead of a knife.
GENIUS!!!
Use this simple trick, and I promise you, your cinnamon rolls will come out much rounder, and a lot prettier.
If you’re going to put a whole day’s work into a batch of cinnamon rolls, you want them to be pretty.
Cause pretty things taste better. Or at least you feel better about your baking skills when you deliver a plate to your neighbors, or serve it to your Holiday Guests.
For this batch of cinnamon rolls, I used my Grandma’s Cinnamon Roll Recipe. You can find it on my blog {here}
And if you’re planning on giving these as neighbor gifts, you can download my FREE printable for Cinnamon Roll Gift Tags {here}. These tags would also be great with Orange Rolls or Dinner Rolls.
I always love being at Eighteen 25. Thank you for having me!

OK you just sent me back about 40+ years. We were visiting down home where my mom grew up at…also, and this is the most important part…it is baking haven there!! And what do they bake most..any type of rolls…cinnamon, poppy seed, nuts….etc….when I saw the photo of using string I remember seeing one of my aunts who was twice removed second cousin by some marriage that was the aunt of their 3rd cousin! Doing this..and thought why????? Oh BTW yes, in some way shape or form I am related to everyone in the two towns…my other cousins and I use to joke around with the very long descriptive of how are we related??? HAHA what memories that one photo brought back!
