Halloween Bat Cage

A month or so ago while I was in Midway, Utah at a little store called The Barn… I came across the idea of a Bat Cage. No, not a birdcage, a BAT CAGE! So cool right. So as soon as I got home I got to work on making myself one.

DIY Halloween Bat Cage. So cool!

batcage suppliesSupplies:

  • Birdcage – found mine at Hobby Lobby it’s pretty big and a little pricey. It was about $45 and that was after 50% off sale.
  • Spanish Moss
  • Bats – Michaels had a bag of them.
  • Fishing Line
  • White Spray paint

DIY Bat Cage. Such a great Halloween decoration! Love it. First thing we had to do was spray paint our cage. It started off as a green, but we needed it to be either black or white. We decided that white would probably let the bats stand out more and I think it was a pretty good choice. Once the cage was completely dry we filled the bottom with Spanish Moss. It’s so messy, but so worth it.

We removed the black elastic hanger from the bats. Then slipped the fishing line through the same hole that the elastic had been and tied a knot on the bottom. Then hung them around the cage tying the line to the top of the birdcage. We made sure to spread them out and to hang them at various lengths.

It just happens to be my favorite spot in my house right now. That cool Beware is one I bought from Heidi Swapp at Swiss Days. My collection of skeleton pets all came from Target, the Oct 31 is an Evie Ivy creation and the rest of it came from other random stores. My Bat Cage is the star of the show though… I just love it!

I got that at a store called Rodworks. Not sure where you live, but I know they have stores in Vegas, Utah and Arizona. I think may also even have an online store?? But I’m not positive.
