Hi there everyone!!! I’m Gina from Kleinworth & Co. & I’m thrilled to be here today to share a fun Halloween treat idea with you all. Halloween is such a fun time to break outside the norm & get creative. From great costumes, fun parties & clever twists on food, it’s really a good time to let the imagination run wild & have a fabulous time.

Monster themed goodies are easy to make with the help of these cute candy eyes. I love making treats with them. It’s so much easier than piping them out of frosting & waiting for them to harden. Plus they are tasty too! The best part is that they come in 2 sizes so you can really get creative with your monster faces.
Decorating the faces is definitely something that you can get the kids involved in & they love it. Once I get the frosting on the brownies & cut them I bring the kids in to help with the rest. I find that they are just so creative. Even though mine are teens, they still have such clever ideas into what’s appealing to kids. They come up with such fun ways to style the eyes that I would have never thought of.
When it comes to whipping up treats for things like Halloween parties I like to shorten my steps & start with a mix for the brownies. While I love my traditional homemade brownie recipe, using a mix cuts down on time & I can have the kids help me with that part too. Then while they are baking I can whip up the frosting & we are nearly done. If you are taking these to a party I would recommend making at least a double batch as this recipe makes approximately 16.
- 1 Box fudge brownie mix (plus called for ingredients- water, eggs, oil)
- ½ stick (1/4 cup) butter - room temperature
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 3 tbsp milk (you can add a little more to reach desired consistency if needed)
- 10-15 drops Soft Gel Paste Food Color- Electric Purple
- Green Jimmies
- Candy Eyes - both sizes
- Prepare brownies to package directions using a 9x9 square pan lined with parchment - leaving 1" overhang on the sides
- Remove baked brownies & allow to cool on wire rack in pan before adding frosting
- While the brownies are cooling, prepare your frosting
- Place softened butter in mixing bowl & beat until light & fluffy
- Add confectioners sugar & mix until crumbly
- Add milk & beat on med-high until well incorporated & fluffy
- Continue beating while you add your drops of food color, doing 4-5 drops at a time until you reach desired color
- Spread on cooled brownies
- Remove brownies from the pan by lifting up on parchment
- Cut into 16 even squares
- Add jimmies & eyes
- Enjoy!
Isn’t that so easy? They are such a fun way to celebrate Halloween but not too scary for the little ones.
A must make for the holiday!
