Halloween. The one holiday that I really enjoy when it comes to crafting. Thanks to the girls at eighteen25, this is my third year as part of the Spooktacular September! It definitely gets my butt in gear and to get creative! It can be a bit of a chore trying to figure out what craft I want to do next, and it’s especially challenging when I tell myself not to spend any money. Hmmm…
I shopped the house and realized that I bought this tissue box at Hobby Lobby 11 months ago. I know this because it was with the receipt. In the bag. Oops! It was only a couple of dollars, and I knew I wanted to make it something pretty!
I spray painted it black and used my Silhouette cutter to cut out a couple of simple shapes for the sides. While I love crafting, I love simplicity. Anything too busy gives me hives, so it was a nice balance.
For a little extra pizzazz, I Mod Podge’d some glittered craft paper to the top. I’m afraid to think how long I’ve had this stuff! Luckily, no receipt to remind me.
A little ribbon bow added some dimension to it, and it was done! It was such a quick and easy project, I was nervous that I hadn’t done enough.
With some added tissue, I stepped back and realized it was juuuuust right. A little creepy/spooky on one side…
and cutesy/festive on the other!
I love being able to make something so inexpensive yet useful! So…next time you craft, try to think out of the box. Get it? Tissue box? Ok. I wasn’t invited for my humor. 😉 Thank you to Jennifer, Jamie, and Jodie for inviting me! I always have so much fun!

Fun idea! I think I might actually have one of those tissue covers hanging out at my house too! Time to give it a make over. 🙂

Okay, you led me on a google trail lol. Normally I buy the rectangular tissue boxes because you get more for your money, but the square ones are always really cute!
So I found out how to take tissues from a rectangle box and put them in a square box…it's all in the folding…
"…fold a stack of tissues in half and insert it into the box with the fold facing up"
Found that here:

Now I can buy all the cute holiday SQUARE tissue boxes and possibly make this adorable box.
