countdown to summer

Apr182011 posted by Jamie 31 Comments

teacher appreciation week
is may 2nd through the 6th at our schools.
so we’re going to be sharing some fun ideas here and there.
not only are the kids starting to look forward to the long school-less summer days,
i’m sure some teachers are too.

i used the silhouette to make my summer countdown clipboards. but you can always print the bottom part out like i did HERE on the christmas countdown.

i painted my clipboards and let them dry completely before attaching the vinyl. then put a coat of mod podge on for a little shine. after that was completely dry, i clipped my numbers on. jennifer had the brilliant idea to do two sets of each number, instead of printing out 99 number cards. (which is what i was about to do)
go and download the number sheets here if you’d like…
set one, set two, set three, set four, set five, set six, set seven
i added a little twine bow on the bike handlebars and wrapped some more around the entire thing just for fun.
if you’re using a silhouette to print the bottom portion in the white vinyl, here is a little rundown of what is used…
now let’s starting counting down the days!!

I teach fourth grade, and we're studying how to write functional directions. (As I type, the kids are writing their own with illustrations.) I'd love to show them this…we have a little under 40 days left, but since it's only 40 degrees today, no summer fever yet!

I would LOVE to get this from one of my students! But for now I'll settle on making one for my classroom for next year – because as much as I want one for this year the reality is it won't happen. We only have 27 school days left before my babies are 1st graders!!

Can you give quick directions on how to print the background on a piece of cardstock? Can we? I'd sure appreciate it. I can't figure it out. I can see the link and am able to print out the numbers, but not the background. THANKS!

Unfortunately, there isn't a download for the background. They are just shapes put together using the Silhouette software. Sorry about that.
