Baking Day Recipes and a Christmas tag

Dec162010 posted by Jodie and Jen 35 Comments

this past saturday was Baking Day 2010.
like usual… we had a great time!
we thought we’d share the recipes of just a few of the treats we made this year.
White Chocolate Popcorn
2 large bowls of white popcorn (air popped)
1 bag of white candy melts chocolate (melted)
candy melts chocolate to drizzle in your color of choice

Pour half of the melted chocolate into each of the 2 bowls of popcorn.
It will not seem like enough chocolate but continue to stir (for a few minutes) until the popcorn is just coated (too much chocolate will make your popcorn soggy).
Before your popcorn dries, spread it out onto some wax paper.
After it is dry, melt your chocolate to drizzle and pour it into a Ziploc bag.
Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and drizzle the colored chocolate over your popcorn.
Let it dry again and bag it up into small cellophane bags or bags of your choice.

Mom’s Fudge {aka… See’s Fudge}
2 jars marshmallow cream
2 (12oz) bags of semi sweet chocolate chips
4 1/2 c sugar
2 Tbsp. vanilla
1 can evaporated milk
2 cubes of butter
2 c chopped pecans or walnuts
First boil sugar, butter, and milk for 10 minutes on medium hear, stirring.  Remove from heat: add chocolate chips, marshmallow cream, nuts and vanilla. Stir until mixed and color is even. Pour into containers of your choice.
 Pretzel Hugs
bag of mini pretzels
candy cane Hershey kisses
red and green m + m’s
preheat oven to 200 degrees
place a layer of pretzels on a wax paper covered cookie sheet
top each one with a kiss
bake for about four minutes until the kisses are really soft
immediately place two m + m’s on each one
place in freezer to set
* * * * * * * *
Jamie also made up this super cute Merry Christmas tag that can be added to all your treats you plan on gifting to your friends and neighbors!

Those pretzels are a fabulous idea! I can't wait to try them. I've dipped pretzels in chocolate before, but I love the colors with the candy cane kisses! So cute. There's nothing better than sweet and salty!

I do the white chocolate popcorn too, but we use regular microwave popcorn – we like the salty and sweet together. Those pretzels are too cute! And love the tags!

Every year, my sister-in-laws and I make fudge, chocolate covered pretzels and whoopie pies, by order. All proceeds go directly to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. We were looking for a new way to package our fudge and I found your posting on your site. Where did you find the aluminum containers that you packaged your fudge in? It is perfect!!!! If you could let me know, that would be WONDERFUL! shmmry17@hotmail.com
    Thank you

I'm just finding this recipe and really want to try it! But I keep finding different answers online for what a cube of butter is :/ Some say its stick of butter and others say it's 2 tablespoons… How much butter are you using for the fudge? Thanks!

hi tiffany… one stick of butter is half a cup, so you'll use one cup for the fudge recipe. 🙂
