Our local library has a summer reading program that we join every year,
but we thought it would be fun to keep track of what everyone is reading with a colorful chain.
SUMMER READING CHAIN
Print off a Summer Reading Chain card (found below)
Back it in cardstock and make a slit at the bottom.
For each book your child reads, they get to add a new chain.
(keep track, by writing the names of the books on each chain link)
If you have older kids that are reading longer books,
add a chain for every 30 minutes or hour that child reads.
Add some magnets to the back of the card and hang right up on your fridge for all to see.

Thanks for the share – I really need to get my kids on the reading track this summer. School comes one month earlier this year in Washoe County, so we've got to be ready!
This is a fun idea. JAM gets bummed bc the local reading program only goes to 20 books and he flies through that no problem. This will be fun to see how long the chain gets by the end of the summer. Thanks!
Greats!!
LOVE this! Thanks so much for always having such ridiculously awesome ideas and being cool enough to share them with us!
Thank you for this! Summer started today for us, and I am printing one out for my kids. They all love to read and I think this will be a fun project! Mom and Dad might use one too. 🙂
That is such a cool idea! It's a great way to get your kids reading during the summer! Thanks for sharing!
LOVE this! Thanks. 🙂
I love this idea of adding links — I thought it was going to be removing, like a countdown.

LOVE this idea! I’d like to use this with my kids at school, but I can’t get the printable link to work (probably blocked). Could you email me the template? Thanks for inspiring me 🙂
Hi Julie! Sorry I’m just coming across your comment. Do you still need the download?
This looks amazing!
