Mini Canvas & Easel Halloween Decoration

Hello friends! My name is Kristen Duke, I blog over at Capturing Joy, and I’m very happy to be here today!

I love Halloween, I love the girls at Eighteen25, and I REALLY love Spooktacular September! It spoke straight to my heart from it’s birth several years ago. Today I’m sharing a simple Halloween craft that is versatile for any holiday or home decor, a Mini Canvas & Easel Halloween Decoration.

From the moment I saw the mini canvas & easel’s, my heart skipped a few beats. Are they not simply adorable just because they are mini?!? I pretty much think anything GIANT or mini are so much fun. The mini canvas are 3×3 inches square, and the easel’s are…well…just a bit bigger than that;) I actually bought them several months ago to do something summery, but that never happened. Then I thought it would be fun to do something spooky and spectacular. See the mini canvas & easel in their original form below. (FYI: pretty sure I found them at Joann’s)

I love Halloween, but I’m not so much into creepy crawly super scary. It’s ok if you are–I’m just not. I like cutesy and COLOR, so I have incorporated the green & purple along with the traditional orange & black for Halloween. I first spray painted the canvas in the 3 bright Halloween colors, and the easel’s in black. Then I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out vinyl letters to place on the canvas. I chose the font “Gypsy Curse” as well as a ghost I found in the Silhouette image gallery. The vinyl is green, but I used it as a stencil.

I used blue painters tape around the edge as well so that the letter and the edge would be the same color (look closely and you’ll see 3 others projects I was working on the same day).

Once that second layer of paint dried, I pulled off the vinyl and painters tape, and I was all set to reunite the mini canvas with his bestie, the mini easel. The ghost is kinda scary, right?

There you have it! Mini & fun & Halloween-y!

So cute! And I have several of those little canvases in my craft supplies. I think I just found a fun art project for my boys. 😉
