Painted Pencils

Aug122013 posted by Jamie 17 Comments

want to take those #2 pencils from boring to fun?with a little nail polish it’s so easy to do.

(it’s also a good way for the kids to keep track of their pencils – at least for a little while)

SUPPLIES:
• pencils
• nail polish
• tape

TO MAKE:
• tape off the pencils about 2″ down
• paint with nail polish
• let dry completely
• carefully peel off tape

paint your pencils a bunch of random colors or stick to a certain color combination
whatever you choose… have fun!

This is a great idea. I would probably paint the opposite end though (minus the eraser). Once they get sharpened, the color will disappear.

With a really steady hand, you could paint stripes, too, since the pencils have sides that you can use as guides. And I agree with Susan R.; it makes sense to paint on the other end, so the color is there up until the pencil is almost used up.

Could you dip them into paint, or is nail polish better?

hi tia… paint would probably be easier. might scratch a little, but shouldn't be a big deal.

Love this idea! But I painted the top – just taped off the metal and eraser and taped again about an inch down. Love this and I thing the nail polish will be very durable. Makes them custom without labeling!! Thanks for the idea! 🙂

So cute…I need to do this for myself. They would be really cute as a Christmas gift with a sketch pad.
